Student Responsibilities

Active Church Engagement and Spiritual Formation

  • We are excited about your journey with our Lord Jesus and the calling our Yahweh God has on your life!
  • As a student of biblical studies, we encourage you to attend worship services and become committed to the life of your local church community. This can include any number of activities, such as being a member of a small group or Bible study, volunteering at the church in various service and leadership roles, serving outside the church on various service projects, evangelism and missions.
  • The goal here is that you understand you are in leadership training. And therefore, you want to be engaged in the various aspects of life, growth, leadership and service within your church in order to prepare yourself for future church leadership and missions.
  • We want to see you grow in your knowledge and understanding of the Bible and Christian doctrine.
  • We want you to pursue a relationship with our Lord Jesus by reading His Word, the Bible, and praying to our Father-God, Yahweh, in heaven.
  • We expect that you live a life of integrity and purity in your thoughts and actions that aligns with God’s teaching in the Bible for Christ followers. That you live a life that is holy and pleasing to God and that all you do is an act of worship and devotion to Him. This means that you say no to sin and choose to put your old self and its sinful desires behind you, and that you fully submit your life to Christ’s Lordship (Philippians 2:5-11).
  • Above all, we pray that you come to know, love and follow Jesus as your Lord, Savior and God. And that you desire to help advance the Kingdom of Jesus Christ here on earth through your faithful worship and service.

Supervisor/Mentor

  • We encourage all students to find a spiritual supervisor/mentor who will come alongside you and partner with you as you engage in our classes and school.
  • Pastors and other qualified spiritual leaders in the church such as teachers, elders and deacons are great candidates to be spiritual supervisors and mentors.
  • The goal here is that your mentor helps you to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they relate to the Bible and Christian doctrine and modern application to various ministry situations that you will find yourself in someday.
  • Your mentor helps you in your spiritual formation, your growth in your faith and identity in the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Your mentor helps you in answering some of the harder questions, as well as the discussion questions found in our coursework. There are sections in each class where we encourage you to work on that section with your mentor. Some of these sections are about your Christian leadership development and becoming one who is qualified and approved to teach (2 Timothy 2:2).
  • Who better to help qualify you than a Christian mentor who knows you on a personal level and has worked to support you through this education process?

We want you to reach out to us for help at any point in your coursework, and we will do our best to help. Philippians 2:5-11

5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;

7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death - even death on a cross!

9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,

10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
